We could not have our annual party in January, when we invite two members from neighbouring clubs to join us, because of bad weather. So we invited our guests to the March meeting. We had anticipated an entertaining speaker and Valerie Sutherland lived up to the promises. There was a great deal of laughter. to her presentation about Growing Old Disgracefully . We could identify with much of it but whether any of us 'break out' and take up her disgracefulness remains to be seen. We had a bring and share supper with more than enough delicious food. When we were replete Sheila Driver read us one of her wonderful stories, which was a further enrichment to the evening. It was a change to have a WI party with no neither a quiz or game. There was a draw to help two members to attend Denman College. It was won by Sue Ball and Barbara Greaves. In the meantime we have the usual round of acivities that giving us continuous opportunities for friendship and fun.
Two members missed a treat as they were unable to attend our Birthday Dinner in March. The Dolphin Hotel prepared a stupendous dinner unsuitable for those watching thier weights. With nearly everyone there the celebration went with a swing. Perhaps it was not so good for non WI guests in the dining room because we must have been noisy with our constant chat. We rounded off the evening with our surprise £3 gifts. No two were the same. It was another happy ocassion for Beer WI.
